This is so awesome! I kind of like the idea of Open Graph already. It’s a bit all-knowing and creepy, but whatever. I think I can get used to that. I’m excited to see what people think of our new plugin!

It’s super simple. Todd Williams a buddy of mine at Media 1 Designs, got inspired by yesterday’s announcement at F8 about the Open Graph, and coded up a nifty lightweight “Facebook Like” WordPress plugin that you can use for your WordPress site! It was officially released today on the GunnJerkens blog. [...]

This is the second WP plugin for this feature I have come across. I’m sure there will be many more. This one has a few more features. What’s needed is some reporting capabilities showing pages liked, who liked them and the ability to sort the reports based on number of likes, post name, or post time.

this is awesome, and kudos for doing it so fast. so second part: i can get the like button working just fine (so long as its the iframe, not the javascript sdk/xfbml version) but what I can’t get to work are the meta tags that actually take advantage of open graph, so the item is rendered with the image, title, etc as an object in a category in facebook. can anyone get this to work?

  10. Roman says:

The is great. Tried it on two WP installations. Works great. One suggested item is to add a height option, because if you leave the faces in the iFrame it is pretty deep and can leave a lot of space between posts on the home page.

Thanks a bunch for knocking it out quickly!

    • Todd says:

This seems to be coming up a lot. Facebook’s default settings reserve so much space. I override their height when you uncheck Show Faces but maybe a height setting is in order… Maybe in the next release

Nice work. Working fine except one issue. On my site the button is visible only when I open the post. It doesn’t appear when full index page is open. Any solution for that? Check it out from my site: http://bit.ly/au2otp

Hey Roman, I found another version of an FB Like button that has a height option, and options to show the button at the top and/or bottom of the post here: http://bit.ly/dDg0u5

You guys making these plugins should get together … still, thanks for turning it around so fast.

Makes it easier for the rest of us.
