Be Thankful

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

As we get ready for Thanksgiving feasts with friends and family, it’s a good time to remember that 1 in 6 Americans struggles with hunger. Here’s a PSA from Feeding America’s new campaign, “Hunger is a Real Story” (you might recognize the star!).

If you want to find out how you can donate money to Feeding America or to locate a local food bank, you can visit feedingamerica.org/hunger.

Black Friday, I’m In Love

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

It’s hard to decide what gets more hype this week: Thanksgiving itself or Black Friday. Here are some fun things happening this week for businesses to get consumers in the buying spirit.

  • Now is the time to “Like” your favorite brands and stores on Facebook since so many of them are leaking their Black Friday deals on their pages (some even have great deal happening right now). If you want to help make Linda and Jen H’s week, “Like” Amazon Movies & TV on Facebook; if the page gets 50,000 “Likes” by Friday, Amazon.com is going to sell Mad Men Seasons 1-3 on DVD for only $7.99 each!
  • Amazon also just introduced an iPhone app called Price Check which lets you instantly price compare, merging the in-store retail world with the online market. Scan a barcode, take a picture of a product or even say the name to the app and you can compare pricing to products on Amazon.com and then buy them with one click.
  • For an artistic view of the craziness that is Black Friday, check out Picture Black Friday, a photojournalism project that documents consumerism on that day. If you dare trek ou early on Friday morning, bring your camera and take some shots to submit them to the site. You can visit the site to see some of the submissions from last year.
  • Black Friday and Cyber Monday are still going strong but there’s a new player in the mix. American Express announced a program called “Small Business Saturday” for the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Register your AmEx card here and you will receive a $25 statement credit after you spend $25 or more at a participating small business. I think this is a great way to remember all of those local businesses during a season when major retailers pull out their big guns.

I would definitely recommend that you check out your stores online this week to see if you can possibly get some great discounts without dealing with the crowds (unless you’re in to that sort of thing). Have fun!

We welcomed two new employees to the office today. Say “Hi” to Don and Joan!

Once we find a permanent home for them, you can expect some more pictures.

Right Before Your Eyes

Friday, November 12th, 2010

I’m kind of obsessed with projection mapping videos lately. Here’s a mindblowing one that just came out from Ralph Lauren; keep in mind that the entire thing was projected on a building in New York.

Celebrity Sighting Alert

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

It’s never a dull moment when a member of the G/J team is traveling.

On this morning’s flight, Linda and Amanda had an amazing celebrity sighting. Before he graces your television screen with something he created, he made it on to Linda’s iPhone. She also got his autograph. He was so fun and passionate about his creation that Linda had to take this pic of him and Amanda.

Can you guess why he’s going to be on TV? There just might be some clues in this picture (insert Lost comparison here).

Delivering Happiness

Monday, November 8th, 2010

Linda was at a meeting earlier today when one of our clients pulled her aside to give her a gift. Inside an envelope was a copy of Delivering Happiness, a book written by the CEO of Zappos, Tony Hsieh.

If you know the story of Zappos, you know that their company mission of creating customer happiness is the driving force behind everything that they do. Our client has mentioned to Linda before that she thinks of Zappos when she thinks about Gunn/Jerkens, especially our commitment to making sure all of our clients are always happy. To top it off, it was a copy that was signed by Tony Hsieh himself which makes it extra special for Linda.

Thank you so much for this incredible gift for the office, Stacie! To say that the comparison to Zappos is a compliment would be an understatement. Our customer service for our clients is something the entire team takes seriously so this means a lot to all of us at G/J.

We look forward to continuing to deliver happiness to all of our clients!
