Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Today is America Recycles Day! Since 1997, people throughout the US have been joining forces on November 15 to celebrate the efforts of recycling! Today is our day to promote, educate and motivate the world to see what we can accomplish!

Here are some interesting facts we found out about recycling:

  1. Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to power a TV for three hours (equal to a half gallon of gasoline!)
  2. If we recycled all of our newspapers, we could save around 250,000,000 trees per year
  3. Each month we discard enough glass bottles and jars to fill a large skyscraper, and they are all recyclable!
  4. The US is the biggest producer of the world’s trash, clocking in at 1,609 pounds per person per year (That’s 5% of the world’s people generating 40% of the world’s waste)
  5. Recycling plastic saves twice as much energy as burning it in an incinerator

So whether it’s reusing paper, recycling a can or teaching others, make sure you do your part to recycle today, tomorrow and the next!
